Documentaries worth watching: Q3 2020

Here are a few documentaries that I enjoyed watching over the last 3 months. All of these are available on Netflix.

1. The Speed Cubers

A totally unexpected gem of a film that talks about competition, friendship, and overcoming defeat. Who is cutting onions?

2. The Biggest Little Farm

The documentary tells the story of a family building a farm outside of Los Angeles. While I enjoyed watching this film I do think they should have addressed whether it is feasible and/or sustainable for everyone to live like this. If the objective of the film was to inspire to live in a more harmonious way with nature, they have definitely accomplished this goal.

3. Miss Americana

Perhaps, a surprising choice, but I found this documentary very inspiring and moving.

4. Rising Phoenix

I saved the best for last.

“In the Olympics, all bodies look the same. In Paralympics, no bodies look the same.”

I knew I was going to get emotional watching this film, I just didn’t expect it to happen a minute into the film. This documentary tells heartbreaking and heartwarming stories of perseverance and the fighting spirit of Paralympic athletes on their path to greatness.
